Core has started the grouting operations at the Rampion Offshore Windfarm. The project, being built by E.ON, the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) and Canadian energy company Enbridge, consists of 116 monopile wind turbines to be located off the Sussex coast.
Core will be installing the grout as part of the turbine foundations, which will be used to provide corrosion protection. For the project, Core has deployed a continuous jet mixing unit which was designed and built by Core’s in-house engineering team.
Colin Johnson, Core’s senior project engineer on Rampion says “Our grouting unit allows us to provide high volumes of consistent quality grout to complete the operations quickly”
Ivan Harnett, managing director at Core says “Rampion is a large project for Core and gives us the opportunity to prove our capability in the offshore foundations market”.
The Rampion project is due to be completed in 2018
